Tonight is bigger than Democrat v. Republican. This is history happening right in front of us ladies and gentlemen. The man doesn’t even have to win the election. Today is a monumental day for America and the world. As i think about it, its getting a little dusty in the casa. DVR Tivo whatever, record this and make it save until i delete. I cant wait!

Marvin + USA Basketball

It doesn’t get better than this for me, unless you want to count the Eva Mendes clip, but yeah, the perfect tenor of all time and the USA basketball going for redemption. I love it. Just a little background, Marvin sang this at the 1983 NBA all star game, at the fabulous forum in Los Angeles. in the Olympic spirit i decided to throw in another classic star spangled banner, Whitney Houston’s Superbowl performance after the gulf war broke out… this one gives me chills

it gets a lil dusty in the casa every time i hear that shit!

Yes we can!

Taking a Stand

March 5, 2008 2 comments

It is rare that athletes take a stand and lend there name to anything political. Kobe does a PSA taking a stand against the genocide going on in Darfur.  We all need to do out part, take a look if you want to be involved with this, its not just about Darfur, there is Katrina, the Tsunami, and so much more to help with, we all owe it to each other. Goodbye Fidel

Today in a prepared statement, Fidel Castro officially ended his reign over Cuba and shared some thoughts on a younger generation taking over control of the power in his beloved country:

“I will not aspire to neither will I accept — I repeat I will not aspire to neither will I accept — the position of President of the Council of State and Commander in chief,” he wrote in the letter.

“It would betray my conscience to occupy a responsibility that requires mobility and the total commitment that I am not in the physical condition to offer.”

This is no huge surprise given that the man has not been seen in public for nearly a year and a half, and that coupled with the fact that he is 81 years old and closer to 100 than he is to 50, it still is a major statement that after being made official now gets people to really begin thinking of the possibilities. here are a few links to read on Fidel’s announcement

These joints are hot. Nike and the AF1′s have the market cornered. These joints are like the 2000 Honda Civics of sneakers. Check out this cats myspace page and check out all of the other 1′s that he has customized. His shit is sick. Here are a couple of my faves:

Clinton(Hillary) Just got closer

Well today, John Edwards is going to fallback and tap out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. Mr. Edwards will make his announcement at a speech in New Orleans this afternoon. A spokesman said Edwards would not endorse another candidate today, but that he might in the future. It is kind of unclear who will benefit the most from this yet, but I actually think this helps the Clinton’s. The timing is good for Hillary because interestingly enough she has performed better in the debates, but it can be good for Obama because most of Mr. Edwards votes came int eh form of white males, a group that Obama reaches and who tend to vote for him in other areas than the south. Either way this Thursdays debate is going to be monumental to their causes before super Tuesday. If you ask me, they need to be on the same ticket anyway, Hillary for president, Obama as VP. She and Billy can run this thing for a few years while the heir apparent Obama is getting on the job training, whats wrong with that plan?

BTW, here is a cool little blurb about where Obama lived in the ’80′s, check it out
