I Wanna Be A Rapper…

August 18, 2008 1 comment

…or a producer, or hip hopper, or whatever we they’re calling themselves these days. Forbes compiled it annual list of the biggest earners, or Kash Kings and they call it, and its a pretty impressive list. No real newcomers this years, but its a who’s who of the rap game.¬† Fif, JAy, ‘Ye, Dre, Em, Pharrell and the other usuals… Its crazy to think that when I was a shorty my pops would tell me that its just temporary and no one will be listening to rap music 20 years from now… well its 15 years a few years later and “rap” music is selling everything from Kotex to Crunk. From television and movies, to computers and iphones to everything sports related, the urban music scene is up and down Madison Avenue. Trend setters, moguls of all mediums, and even philanthropy and political activism, i love it!

a little more fun too! the hip hop homes for sale, you know if you have a loose $6-15m hanging around in your couch!

Jig is almost starting to get on my nerves!!! The report is that he is about to sell half of 40/40 to the Las Vegas Sands Corp for $44m. They want to make it the biggest sports book in LV. I like it… if Jay isn’t careful he is about to start treading on that Bing Crosby territory, if you dont know, check it out, dude had dough.

… and in other news, ‘Ye will be producing most of the Blueprint 3.. Check out the first single, Jockin’ Jay Z. Love it!

Yeop, a recession is on the way, and The Recession is on the way… here is the “Official Remix” for Put On, Young Jeezy ft. Jay. Its hot, peeps out Jay letting everyone know what is up, and listen for the thinly veiled LeBron reference… But its true, once Bron is in NY, what can you say about Jay Z?

Thoughts from Mark Cuban

Say what you want about Mark Cuban, but the guy is smart as hell. And come to think about it, if I owned an NBA team and paid a couple hundred million a year in operating cost (and $8m+ to Erick Dampier) I would be behind the bench yelling and staring down people too! Anyways, here are his thoughts on raising the age limit for guys playing in the NBA. He bases it on maturity levels of a 22 year old versus a 19 year old, which makes a ton of sense.¬† I echo every thing he says and this is an argument¬† I have had many times with my boy Justin, who stands by the theory of, “if you can go to war at 18, why can’t you play in the NBA?” … Long story short, the NBA is a private company, they can have any stipulations they want, especially if the union goes along with it. What do you think?

Life is GOOD for Jay Z

One of my sayings in this world has always been, “It must’ve been nice being Frank Sinatra.” Well, i think i am almost to the point where i can change that saying to, “It must be nice to be Jay Z.” On the heels of the marriage license news getting out, word around the campfire is that there is another major collabo on the horizon for Hov. Live Nation, who has broken off mega stars with major chips recently, is looking to CTC for Jay Z. In a deal similar to what was given to Madonna and U2, Live Nation will partner with Jigga and will have a stake in every aspect of his career. In addition to a reported $25m upfront signing bonus, Jay will receive an advance of $10m per record for a minimum of three albums, as well as Live Nation also expected to commit $50 million to finance Jay-Z’s investments and his entertainment venture, to be called Roc Nation. Roc Nation will most likely include his own record label, music publishing, talent consulting and managing projects. It’s over for these cats that want to hate on Jay, I can’t even listen to these mad rappers anymore, no… seriously, Jay Z won

Warren Buffett’s Home

This is the house owned by the worlds richest man. Warren Buffett investor supreme has lived in this house since 1958, according to the slide show of homes of some of the worlds billionaires compiled by Forbes.com. He has taken over the top spot held by Bill Gates for the last 13 years, because of the Microsoft bid for Yahoo last month. I don’t think Bill will be getting worried anytime soon given that he is still worth close to $60b ranking third at $58b. Second on the list is the Mexico monopolist Carlos Slim Helu at $60b. The rest of the top ten looks like this:

1 Warren Buffett United States (residence) 77 (age) $62.0b
2 Carlos Slim Helu & family Mexico 68 60.0
3 William Gates III United States 52 58.0
4 Lakshmi Mittal India 57 45.0
5 Mukesh Ambani India 50 43.0
6 Anil Ambani India 48 42.0
7 Ingvar Kamprad & family Sweden 81 31.0
8 KP Singh India 76 30.0
9 Oleg Deripaska Russia 40 28.0
10 Karl Albrecht Germany 88 27.0
