Say what you want about Mark Cuban, but the guy is smart as hell. And come to think about it, if I owned an NBA team and paid a couple hundred million a year in operating cost (and $8m+ to Erick Dampier) I would be behind the bench yelling and staring down people too! Anyways, here are his thoughts on raising the age limit for guys playing in the NBA. He bases it on maturity levels of a 22 year old versus a 19 year old, which makes a ton of sense. I echo every thing he says and this is an argument I have had many times with my boy Justin, who stands by the theory of, “if you can go to war at 18, why can’t you play in the NBA?” … Long story short, the NBA is a private company, they can have any stipulations they want, especially if the union goes along with it. What do you think?
Its interesting how different college basketball sounds without Dickie V. Whether you love him or have him, he is all about
Duke basketball college basketball. He recently went under throat surgery and that is why he hasn’t been around, but buckle up babeee! because he is back tonight for the big Duke at North Carolina game. Here is a great little piece in the NYTimes about Dickie V with a nice audible slide show. REally though, who knew his house is over 17k square feet? jeez, thats awesome babee!
In what has to be the dumbest investigation of NCAA rules violations, UCLA has been asked to look into possible illegal contact between star freshman Kevin Love and The Wizard of Westwood John Wooden. Apparently there was some sort of short conversation last year sometime during his visit to UCLA. This is a prime example of how much out of touch the NCAA guys are. If they knew anything they would know that John Wooden is just about the best ambassador of collegiate student athlete achievement that there is. And uh… the man is 97 fucking years old! He is about as close to a NCAA violator as I am the point guard of the Los Angeles Lakers. And here is the other thing, if these guys knew anything, they would know that John Wooden will talk to just about anyone who happens to walk past him and say hello. Don’t they have better things to do, like fix the BCS?
